Alma VanCleve

Alma VanCleve (nee Adkins) was born on November 6, 1905 in Elkville, IL, the daughter of William and Eliza (nee Robinson) Adkins.  She passed away on February 22, 2003 at her daughters home in Martinsville, NJ.
Alma was raised in Elkville, IL, moved to Carbondale, and was married in 1935 to James E. VanCleve.
Alma was a self-employed housing coordinator for University students attending SIU Carbondale for over forty years.  She was also an officer in the Carbondale PTA, active in 4-H and other community organizations.  Alma was a member of First Baptist Church of Carbondale.
Alma is survived by her daughters Sula Krawczyk of Belleville, IL, and Marsha VanCleve Sosnowska of Martinsville, NJ, eight grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James E. VanCleve, son, Teddy J. VanCleve, granddaughter, Lynn Warrenfeltz, sisters, Orbie Graff, Elsie Burns, Lois Tucker, and Edna Hartsock, and brothers, Lewis Adkins, Scott Adkins, Ray Adkins, Roy Adkins, and Ben Adkins.
There was a memorial service held for Alma on Saturday, March 8, 2003 at 2:00 P.M. at Pleasant Grove Memorial Park Chapel/Mortuary, 31 Memorial Drive on Old Route 13, Murphysboro, IL.
